Mobley

Mobley

Cutting vocals in the woods behind his college dorm. Mixing in the backseat of a sedan. Sneaking into the music department after hours to teach himself to play new instruments (and sneaking out before the faculty arrived in the morning). Mobley (singer/songwriter/producer Anthony Watkins II) grew up all over the world, from the Spanish Mediterranean to the California coast. Perhaps it’s because of this itinerant childhood that he finds it so hard to sit still. Over the last few years, he’s composed dozens of pieces for stage and television, played 150+ national tour dates (with the likes of JUNGLE, Mutemath, & Wavves and at festivals like Savannah Stopover and Float Fest), and recorded (then scrapped) two whole albums in pursuit of the songs that would become his forthcoming full-length debut, Fresh Lies. The album, on which Mobley plays every instrument, defies easy classification, drawing liberally (often simultaneously) from indie rock, R&B, and pop sensibilities. He’s equally at home on a playlist next to The Weeknd and TV on the Radio alike, while his electronic, dub-dabbling production style calls to mind the intricate work of artists like James Blake and Thom Yorke. What follows is the first ever Mobley session video shot in New York City, in The Garden. It begins with “Swoon,” Mobley’s hit new single.

INFJ

INFJ

Music like a cool breeze; just a few short minutes into the INFJ set in New York City, their first Outlaw Roadshow invite, and the beauty of the duo’s approach becomes clear. Hayley Simmons and Scott Thompson have that easy magic and any night when the pair are playing is a good night.  Quietly stated, sparse and yet utterly inspired – INFJ are so named for the duo’s matching Myers Briggs personality type. It was surely an interesting conversation that ultimately lead to the pair selecting the name as their own. Thompson, who is a founding member and lead guitar player for root rock band Tallahassee, writes the duos songs and music. But for most music fans, the most immediate thing in INFJ is Simmons’ angelic delivery. Together this is a truly special combination. “INFJs are conscientious and value-driven. They seek meaning in relationships, ideas, and events, with an eye towards better understanding themselves and others. Using their intuitive skills, they develop a clear and confident vision, which they set out to execute to better the lives of others.” (source) What follows is the world’s first look at INFJ’s private session video shot in The Garden.

These Wild Plains

These Wild Plains

If you closed your eyes and listened to These Wild Plains you would never, in a million years, expect this sound to come from a Boston band. And that’s when you realize the songs, the music and the feeling are a gift – and you never, ever know when life will surprise you. This is a group with boundless country rock charisma. “Hit repeat on this session and let it all sink in. The more I hear this band play, the more I slip away into another geography,” says Outlaw founder Ryan Spaulding. “These Wild Plains are making scene-setting music.”  It was only a year after the band played their first live show to a sold out Great Scott in Allston, MA, that Esquire Magazine featured them in their 15 Bands to Watch List last year. They’ve been busy since on the live front as go-to support in Boston for national touring bands like The Whigs, Futurebirds and A Rocket To The Moon. They’ve made the most of those opportunities nad have earned some fantastic looks from festivals and shows around the country: Mile of Music (Appleton, WI), SXSW (Austin, TX), The Outlaw Roadshow in New York and just announced: Stagecoach 2016 (Indio, CA) in the Spring.

Cask Mouse

Cask Mouse

When the world was looking the other way, New England’s Cask Mouse quietly became the best thing going. This fiery act will always be known by Adam & I as the little band that blew away Austin in 2013 – and now they’ve done the same thing for us again in New York City in 2015! Cask Mouse is in their own words, ‘a true contradiction’. It’s  a quality reflected in the range of the songs that occupy their set and perhaps due to the various creative minds that have somehow come together to form this wonderful sonic amalgam. Songs can be delicate, beautiful and sparse, like classic country folk – or wild, rambunctious stomps from a whiskey-soaked night.  “Cask Mouse are one of the very best live bands in the American Northeast, if you don’t know this band now you have some homework,” says Outlaw founder Ryan Spaulding. “Don’t worry, this is the kind of work we can all get behind.”

Ninet Tayeb

Ninet Tayeb

Ninet Tayeb is essentially the most famous name in the Israel entertainment industry; a songwriter, an actress, a DJ and a hell of a live performer! Our show with Ninet last week in New York served as a wake-up call for the United States. We bring you closer to the artist with this mesmerizing and fun live session recorded in The Garden the same night.
